WotLK Specific Macros

In anticipation of the new pet moves our tenacity pets will be getting in the patch and in the expansion, I’ve added several macros to the Macros/Addon page to help facilitate the smooth use our our pet’s abilities in battle. I’ve added macros for Intervene, Taunt, Roar of Sacrifice, and Charge, including my new personal favorite:

/cast Charge
/cast [target=pet,exists,nodead] Misdirection

This simultaneously sends the pet in with a charge and casts misdirection on the pet without losing the current target, allowing you to open up on the mob immediately. With the new 30 second cooldown, its reasonable to start every pull with Misdirect, even while leveling (for the most part). Visually it’s alot of fun as the pet turns red and the misdirect graphic gets dragged behind the pet as it charges in.

If any of you out there have any tenacity related macros you find useful, please, don’t hesitate to share!

Let the Hunt begin!

  1. Great Macro’s, I just have one comment. The Focus macro has the requirement of the healer to be targeting the guy eating his face, which is not often the case. I would think that the second macro you have down there for targeting the intervene / taunt combo is better since it will depend solely upon you to complete it.

  2. Thanks! Yeah, I do prefer the second macro, and the taunt doesn’t work as well with focus. It does have the advantage of being setup in advance, but perhaps the taunt portion doesn’t make as much sense.

Maybe I can rework that one a bit.
Try out the Charge + Misdirect and let me know what you think of it.

  3. I love your macro section. Do you know if there’s anyway to have Roar of Sacrifice target yourself? I know I can set myself as the focus target and set it to cast = focus jazz, but is there a self target macro for it?

  4. Hello Shaedon,

Thanks for the great question. I didn’t know the answer off the top of my head, so I did some fishing. I came up with this:

    /cast [target=player] Roar of Sacrifice

It may be bugged in the ptr and beta, since RoS isn’t yet working the way it’s “supposed” to. I’ll confirm this works, and add it to my macros page!

  5. Ah, this should be an invaluable source! Especially since other hunter macro lists I’ve seen haven’t had much organization which could make for finding different kinds of macros difficult.

  6. This is my new fav macro…thought some might like it…

/castsequence Aspect of the Hawk, Aspect of the Viper

  7. This is the macro I use to send my pet in and attack, and also the macro I use when I tab to my next target.

    /cast Rapid Fire
    /cast Hunter’s Mark
    /cast Kill Command
    /cast Shell Shield
    /cast Bestial Wrath
    /use Bladefist’s Breadth

    Description of each

    /cast Rapid Fire
    — I wasn’t using this enough so I put it in the macro I’m always using

    /cast Hunter’s Mark
    — Hunter’s Mark = more DPS and an old school way of marking the kill target easy

    /cast Kill Command
    — If it’s up you might as well use it

    — Sends the pet in to charge

    /cast Shell Shield
    — If my turtle’s shell is up I send it in with bubble on!

    /cast Bestial Wrath
    — I have this on a quick timer with talents and glyphs – so in an instance its up every single pull

    /use Bladefist’s Breadth
    — and this pops my first trinket every minute

    — I have my next trinket on my arcane shot so when the above goes on CD my next one comes up almost immediately

I turn off error speech in my UI settings so I don’t hear “that’s not ready yet” over and over again. But I find this dramatically upped my dps since I would save all this special stuff for bosses and would never use it enough during trash.

  8. jfragment,
I would really not recommend that macro since you will be losing dps time if you activate BW before your pet is at the mob. Not to mention that some fights you’ll need to pop cooldowns later than at the start.
If you’re using something like fury of the five flights you might want to wait until you have a few stacks up before using it as well.

Oh, and btw, it’s time to get a new trinket 😉

You might also want to consider that if you use something like this on trash before a boss you might end up not having it ready for the boss.
