Oh Thunderstomp, so simple.

After the length of time required to gather data points for my Growl calculations, I was dreading my testing for Thunderstomp today. However I was in for a pleasant surprise as the simplicity of the formula became clear right away.

Threat = Damage x 2.5

Yep, that’s all there is to it. You have to love simplicity.

  1. Hehe, I came across that number a while ago now, I don’t know where it came from (hence my 7dps to 18tps conversion below).

    This makes it doubly sad that the dps scaling for TS is so weak meaning that you can only really scale threat from this source through crits providing Cobra Strike procs.

    What I have been doing is stack AP (for growl) and crit (for TS) for this reason, what I didn’t realise was how little effect AP had on TS.

  2. Yep, I remember when they changed Thunderstomp on the PTR. I went there to test the new talented version, and in the process figured out the threat scaling. I’m still more than a little unimpressed that we were told it wasn’t going to change very much, only to find out it was nerfed by roughly 40% in damage, and thus threat as well.

    Ah well. We have the new Misdirect now, that plays nice with Volley for AOE purposes.
